Rotary Cutting & ¼” Seams:

With Carlene Deems 

Skill Level: Beginner’s    

          This class is designed for everyone to learn how to use a rotary cutter to cut their fabrics with more confidence, learning some new techniques in how to cut straight. Cottonpicker’s Quilt Shop will provide fabric for this class.  We will also spend some time learning how to sew with an accurate ¼” seam.  This is a great beginner’s class to get you started on the journey of quilt making.

Dear Jane Quilt Club

Skill Level:  Intermediate to Advanced

Come join Carlene in recreating the 1863 Jane Stickle quilt blocks.  She is presenting these blocks in groups of eight each session.  This will allow you to complete the total 225 blocks without being overwhelmed.

          Return to a more leisurely pace with the time-honored art of hand quilting.  Carol will guide you through the basics, offering her own special techniques honed from years of experience.  Needles for the class are provided.

 

Invisible Machine Appliqué:

          If you like the look of hand appliqué – but don’t enjoy doing it by hand, Linda will show you a method using mono-filament thread to get the “hand appliqué” look – that’s all done on the machine.

This class focuses on a small wall hanging that will allow you to learn in one class day the very basics of the wonderful world of hand appliqué!

Beginning Free Motion Machine Quilting:

          Learn the ins and outs of free motion machine quilting in this fun and informative class.  By class end, you’ll be wondering what took you so long to decide to give machine quilting a try.  Give those wall hangings and small quilts you left in quilt limbo a chance to see the light of day!

 

 

Hand Pieced Double Wedding Ring:

          Everyone loves the Double Wedding Ring quilts. Your grandmother did it and you can too! Carol will teach you how easy it is to hand piece this block so that it lays perfectly flat.

 

Beginning Russian Needlepunch:

With Carlene Deems

 Skill Level: Beginners 

          Punchneedle embroidery is an old needle art that has become “new” again.  The needle art is worked with embroidery floss and a needle-like tool on weaver’s cloth.  The finished pieces resemble miniature hooked rugs.  Punchneedle pieces are generally quite small and are indeed works of art.  This needle art is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by all ages!

 

 

Barbara Brackman’s Under-ground Railroad “Three Bucks A Block” Sampler:

Our  “Three Bucks a Block” club will begin in February.  The first block is $5.00. Not only do you get the pattern and fabric to make the block, but you also get a history lesson about the block from Barbara Brackman. Don’t forget to come to Cottonpicker’s anytime during the week beginning with the 3rd Monday of the month with your completed block to pick up your next block.  If you miss the 3rd week for any reason the kit will be $5.00 instead of $3.00. 

 

Dresden Star:

               Have you always admired the Dresden Star quilt pattern but thought in order for you to make one it would be too hard or you would have to paper piece it?  Not with this easy and fast pattern!  The pattern is designed by Laundry Basket Quilts and includes acrylic templates for your blades & stars.  The innovative technique using these templates makes this and easy & fun quilt to make!  Finished size is approx. 51" x 68".

Everyone has just loved this jacket!  And now you can have one of your own!  Let Connie show you how easy this jacket is to piece. Connie will have the pattern available for purchase at the class.

 

 

Class Policy

1.  Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.  You may also register by phone using a credit card.  Class size is limited, so be sure to enroll early.

 

2.  Supply lists are available at the time of registration.  When the materials list is part of a pattern, or a pattern or book is required for class, each student is required to purchase their own copy of the pattern. 

 

PLEASE NOTE:  while we don’t make in mandatory that you purchase your fabrics at our shop, please remember that by supporting our store, we are then able to provide you with more fun and exciting classes.

 

3.  We make a commitment to our teachers based upon your registration.    Instructors are independent contractors.  The scheduling, size and cancellation is left to the discretion of the instructor.  Classes that are cancelled by the instructor will be refunded in full.  Students wishing to cancel a class must do so one week prior to the start of the first class to receive a refund of the class fee.  No refunds will be given after that time.
