Rotary Cutting 101 & ¼” Seam Piecing

Skill Level: Beginner’s            Cost: $15.00 BYOM

            This class is designed for everyone to learn how to use a rotary cutter to cut their fabrics with more confidence, learning some new techniques in how to cut straight. Cottonpicker’s Quilt Shop will provide fabric for this class.  We will also spend some time learning how to sew with an accurate ¼” seam.  This is a great beginner’s class to get you started on the journey of quilt making.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beginning Hand Quilting

Invisible Machine Appliqué

            If you like the look of hand appliqué – but don’t enjoy doing it by hand, Linda will show you a method using mono-filament thread to get the “hand appliqué” look – that’s all done on the machine.

 

 

 

 

 

Beginning Free Motion Machine Quilting

Beginning Rug Hooking

Hand Pieced Double Wedding Ring

Beginning Russian Punchneedle

            Punchneedle embroidery is an old needle art that has become “new” again.  The needle art is worked with embroidery floss and a needle-like tool on weaver’s cloth.  The finished pieces resemble miniature hooked rugs.  Punchneedle pieces are generally quite small and are indeed works of art.  This needle art is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by all ages!

 

 

   

Dresden Star

               Have you always admired the Dresden Star quilt pattern but thought in order for you to make one it would be too hard or you would have to paper piece it?  Not with this easy and fast pattern!  The pattern is designed by Laundry Basket Quilts and includes acrylic templates for your blades & stars.  The innovative technique using these templates makes this and easy & fun quilt to make!  Finished size is approx. 51" x 68".

Skill Level: Beginners  Cost: $15/session       BYOM

            Step back in time to the late 1800’s and join us as we explore a new Sampler quilt that follows the 9 books Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote in the series Little House on the Prairie.  We will be making 2 blocks each month along the theme of the 9 different books and will learn some new skills and techniques as we go.    Rotary cutting skills are necessary before taking this class

 

 

 

 

 

   
     

Class Policy

1.  Class fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.  You may also register by phone using a credit card.  Class size is limited, so be sure to enroll early.

2.  Supply lists are available at the time of registration.  When the materials list is part of a pattern, or a pattern or book is required for class, each student is required to purchase their own copy of the pattern. 

PLEASE NOTE:  while we don’t make in mandatory that you purchase your fabrics at our shop, please remember that by supporting our store, we are then able to provide you with more fun and exciting classes.

    3.  We make a commitment to our teachers based upon your registration.    Instructors are independent contractors.  The scheduling, size and cancellation is left to the discretion of the instructor.  Classes that are cancelled by the instructor will be refunded in full.  Students wishing to cancel a class must do so one week prior to the start of the first class to receive a refund of the class fee.  No refunds will be given after that time.

4.  Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be cancelled three days prior to class.

5.  Weather related delays are handled on an individual basis.  Please call the shop for details.  440-428-6449.
